Jog-a-Thon 2009

Jog-a-ThonWow! If you weren't there, you just might not believe what an incredible and awesome group of boys and girls (parents/grandparents, too!) we have here at TRCS! It was truly amazing.....seeing all of our students, parents, teachers, grandparents, etc., out there running and running and running, with some who walked the full 30 minutes for each group. The blue skies, warm temperatures and light wind really made it a perfect day for being outside, too. I learned that approximately 8.5 laps equals one mile (according to Mrs. Palmer). Did you know that?

Our sixth grade classes started the day at 9:00 AM running. It looked like Ian Hoffman and Austin Ray were the winners with 33 laps each (almost 4 miles!) There's a reason those boys are so competitive - you should have seen the last couple of laps - no way would either of them let the other one have an additional lap!

Then, just before lunch break, our fourth grade class showed their true colors. There were two more boys who ran the same 33 laps each, Eric Hixson and Landon Wood, so we thought we had a 4-way tie for the most laps run.

However, the very last group to run, our third grade classes, had a surprise for everyone! This final group produced the top two winners - Jonathan Bowlby and Kaden Vanderwerf each ran a total of 34 laps - right at 4 miles! What a valiant effort those two brought to our Jog-a-Thon. It was an exciting and wonderful end to a really fun day in the sunshine!

Be sure to send in your support for our joggers! Sponsor sheets and donations are due by June 1st!

There will be several additional awards for this Jog-a-Thon to be presented at the Final Awards Assembly chapel to be held on Friday, June 12, 2009. You are welcome to come and be a part of our final chapel for the year. See you there!
