2011-2012 School Board

Jim Harvey Jim Harvey
Board President
My name is Jim Harvey. My wife, Janis, and I have 2 grown daughters. We have been members of Northlake Baptist Church since 1999. We have had an opportunity to serve in various capacities. Previously I have served on the Elder Board, and have been a part of many mission teams. I was feeling that it was time for a change when Mark approached me about an appointment to the School Board. After prayer and consideration, I accepted and have been blessed to serve here for 9 months as his designate. I was elected to the board in September of 2011. Over the years, I have had friends and relatives that either work or attend Three Rivers Christian School. I have seen the blessings and support that come from a Christian Education and am honored to serve here.

I have been an active member of Northlake Baptist Church since 1978. I was on the school board previously for nine years.   I have been a grandparent to the sixth grade class for the past seven years and do volunteer work in the classroom.  I strive to serve the Lord wherever He leads me; and will do my best to serve you on the board.

Turmoil in the public school system in the late 1980’s brought us to Three Rivers Christian School.  Quality, well-rounded education kept us here.  Both of our children graduated from Three Rivers Christian School.  They were well prepared for college and have received top honors at their chosen college.  The Christian values that were taught in our home were reinforced in the classroom.
I became a member of the school board at TRCS approximately 11 years ago.  My husband was one of the founders of Cornerstone Community Christian School.  He served on the board there until they merged with Longview Christian School to become Three Rivers Christian School.
The thing I value most about Three Rivers Christian School is that parents do not have to give up a quality education for a Christian education.  TRCS makes it possible for them to have both.   I am honored to continue to serve because the value is well worth the monetary sacrifice we made.

My children have attended Three Rivers Christian School for 18 years. It has provided them an opportunity to grow academically and spiritually in their walk with God. My family has received so many blessings from the devoted staff and volunteers at the school, I am grateful to have the opportunity to give back a small portion of what we have received.  I am a new member to the board and I am looking forward to serving in the mission of Three Rivers Christian School.

Although my three children have graduated from TRCS and have reaped the blessing of the quality Christian education it provides, I am serving on the board to ensure this opportunity for future generations.  I strongly believe Christian schools provide an additional foundation along side the family for teaching God’s principles and love.

At Three Rivers Christian School we can prepare our students for what lies ahead of them without all the distractions of the latest popular idea or fad. We offer a Christ-centered, Bible-based education, which means that what was wrong yesterday, is wrong today and will be tomorrow. But also, what was right is still right and will be tomorrow. God's Word is the best foundation we have to build a life on and that is what we strive to do. One day, all students grow up and take their place in society. As long as we have that student here, we will prepare him/her to not only be a contributing part of society, but to be a Christian role model to others.

I am a new member to the TRCS school board, but have been a long-time volunteer for the school. I am the RIF coordinator for TRCS as well.  My husband Daryl and I have a daughter, Grace, who is currently enrolled in the elementary school.  She is doing well there and we have seen a lot of growth in her, both spiritually and academically.  I am a stay-at-home Mom.  Our daughter has been at TRCS since preschool.  Having access to a Christian school such as TRCS is a true blessing and invaluable.  The students are free to pray and share what God is doing in their lives.  They are able to share prayer requests and concerns knowing that they will be prayed for.  I have so enjoyed the Christian examples seen in the faculty and staff- they give the kids a great example of Christ.  Having the foundation that Christian school provides is something that will be with them throughout their lives and will help prepare them for the future.  I am blessed to be on the school board.
